OFI INITIATIVES OFI's programs and partnerships cultivate
"people and ideas" and promote innovation and entrepreneurship. OFI has sponsored over 85 programs for 8,000
participants.
ENTREPRENEURS Building Blocks Series: Classes
for entrepreneurs, technical innovators and researchers providing practical knowledge on various aspects of
a start-up including legal, marketing, financial and other skills to advance their technologies and product. Entrepreneurs Forum @ UCI: Meetings for UC Irvine faculty, researchers and
students interested in the entrepreneurial process. Events feature a faculty
member from within the UC system who shares experience and advice on starting companies and the technology transfer process.
Spotlight Entrepreneur Series: One-on-one
interviews with experienced entrepreneurs. The events are taped in a studio
interview format and the sessions will be available on the website.
OCTANe's LaunchPad: Accelerates
entrepreneurs and start-ups by providing critical, individualized and value-added support to early-stage biomedical and information
technology entrepreneurs and companies through mentoring and education. LaunchPad's referral network connects people,
capital and technology.
INNOVATION OFI Innovation Series: Educational programs focused on specific areas of science
and technology. The collaborative format engages leaders in all aspects of the
innovation lifecycle including: university researchers, entrepreneurs, start-ups,
large companies and investors. Examples include: ophthalmology, cardiovascular, semiconductors. OFI
Innovation Awards: Recognizes individuals who have developed an innovative idea, design, patent, product,
or discovery in the biomedical and information technology industries. The awards increase
public awareness of science and technology developed in Orange County. TALENT TalentEngine: OCTANe's online talent portal for
Orange County's biomedical and information technology companies and innovators connecting technical and university talent
with high-quality jobs and business opportunities. TalentEngine also provides offline private networking introductions
and career guidance.
OCTANe Next: For the "next" generation leaders and talent ages 18-29. Free access
to programs, events, LaunchPad, TalentEngine and the 12,000+ OCTANe network. OCTANe Next provides tools, resources
and connections to help further the next generation of the OC innovation community. OCTANe@UCI: A strategic partnership with the
University of California, Irvine fostering collaboration between the academic and private sectors. OCTANe partners with
UC Irvine through Board and Council leadership, technology transfer, weekly "open houses" and innovative programs
to connect faculty, staff and students with private sector opportunities.
